This morning I hiked some of the soggy trails in Elijah Bristow State Park. It's the first time I have hiked there. When things dry out a little and we get some nice weather it will be great to spend some more time there. I will have some photos to post later.

Enjoying nature alone

I have given thought to the enjoyment I get from being alone out in nature, walking local nature trails and parks, exploring mountain trails and scenery, visiting lakes and waterfalls, as well as all of the wildlife I get to see. Being out there alone with my thoughts gives me opportunity to see myself as I really am, a mere mortal, insignificant in all of this wondrous beauty and design. Humility is a noble quality.

Experiencing what the earth has to offer first hand, with my own eyes, teaches me a lot more than can other lowly men who may not have learned humility and arrogantly expect my acceptance of their unfounded theories and assertions. There is no way that I can ignore the abundant evidence that I can see. Everywhere I look there are evidences that the earth was made for mankind. It has everything we need and could not have come about by accident, I cannot intelligently accept any other conclusion than the earth was created..

If one considers all of the circumstances that have to be just right for us to exist here and the cycles in motion and laws that set bounds for everything, how could they refuse to believe in a Creator? Everything that humans do today is done in conformity to these laws. There could be no space exploration without depending on such laws. And once humans leave the earth, they must compensate for what they will lack by providing artificial means. Doubters have only to defy the law of gravity or the requirement to breathe to learn that we cannot escape them. Yet, we do what might be considered more serious harm by ignoring the Lawmaker. A wise person once said, : "Of course, every house is constructed by someone, but he that constructed all things is God." This is in keeping with another inescapable law - the natural law of cause and effect. When we observe an effect, we accept that there must be a cause.

Getting out and enjoying nature benefits me in a number of ways, primarily by making me use my intelligence and thinking about life and its purpose. Thus the spiritual benefits are invaluable. It is also true that it benefits me physically and emotionally. Being diabetic I need regular exercise to keep sugar levels down. Exercise does that for me, plus it also helps me emotionally, keeping my outlook positive and forward looking.

So, this might help you to understand why I need to keep going, enjoying my photo shoots and communing with nature.

Vern

SUBJECT - what spring means to me.

March is the month when spring makes its appearance. For a photo assignment, why not work to come up with an image that represents what spring means to you. If any are interested in doing this, email me your photo and I can post in on an 'Photo Assignment' page.

Snow in the Coburg Hills

This morning I started out to go to a local park but since there was a bit of snow in the Coburg Hills, I headed there instead. The blanket of snow was so beautiful. I know those elsewhere may be tired of the stuff. But we don't get it much here and so I like to see the way it beautifies the landscape. I will be posting images soon. On the way home I spotted a red tailed hawk along Marcola Road and was pleased to get some acceptable images. They will be posted too when I get around to it. It was a fine morning.
